To prove its restorative powers, Estée dabbed it on Carmel Snow, Harper’s Bazaar’s legendary—and legendarily intimidating—editor in chief. “Miss Snow did look astonished,” Estée admitted, but she was so impressed with the results that she ran a winning review in the magazine in 1951, skyrocketing the cream to success.
